Wusstest Du, dass der Fasan (Phasianus colchicus) ursprünglich aus Asien stammt? Ich tatsächlich nicht. Sie wurden wahrscheinlich schon zur Antike in Europa eingeführt, wo sie meist als Ziervogel und wegen ihres Fleisches gehalten wurden. Spätere Einbürgerungen in Europa, den USA und anderen Ländern, dienten hauptsächlich zu Jagdzwecken. (Quelle: Wikipedia)

Did you know that the pheasant (Phasianus colchicus) originated in Asia? I actually didn't. They were probably introduced to Europe in ancient times, where they were mostly kept as ornamental birds and for their meat.
